My first week of class is now complete. I think I spent a total of about 15 hours this week reading, watching videos and posting in the discussion forum. While I did find the videos worthwhile, gathering quotes and relevant information from them proved to be more tedious than I expected. I kept having to go back and try and remember exactly at what point in the video I heard a particular phrase. This forced me to watch them more than once. Reading the book would have made that process easier I think. That was the only downside that I experienced. The amount of knowledge I was exposed to this week definitely broadened my perspective of the world and how I interact with it. Globalization has taken on a whole new meaning for me this week and I wonder how it has impacted the way that I view myself and others...there will be much processing going on in my brain as I endeavor to translate what I have learned into my own context, life, ministry, family, and so forth. I really felt like I excelled this week in an online format. It has enabled me to maintain a balance of everything and, despite being sick the latter half of the week, I felt pretty good.
I hope to explore the ramifications that our globalized society has had on the nature of how our youth interact with each other and the world. I have looked at the "txt affct" in a limited scope in the past but am curious if this has created a greater sense of apathy in their minds and what affect, if any, it's had on brain development and the ability to process and solve problems.
All things considered....GREAT WEEK!
shalom.
